Hamas Official Says Iran Ties Normal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The relations between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Iran are on the right track, a Hamas official announced, saying the ties are founded upon support for the Palestinian cause.

In an interview with Quds Press, head of Hamas movement’s foreign affairs Osama Hamdan said a Hamas delegation’s recent visit to Iran contributed to the normalization of ties between the Palestinian group and Tehran.

The “firm relations” between Hamas and Iran rest upon the same stances the two sides have adopted towards the Palestinian cause and supporting the anti-Israeli resistance movement, he added.

Earlier in December, a Hamas delegation, led by Muhammad Nasr, a member of the political bureau of the movement, paid an official visit to Iran.

Hamdan had already described the primary purpose of that visit as expansion of Iran-Hamas ties, which he said have been in place for more than 25 years.
