AFC Asian Cup: South Korea Beats Kuwait
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - South Korea football team defeated Kuwait 1-0 for its second straight win at the ongoing AFC Asian Cup here on Tuesday.
The Korean football team, who has not won the Asian Cup since 1960, took a step closer to a berth in the quarter-final.
On a rainy day at Canberra Stadium, Nam Tae-hee scored the only goal of the match in the 36th minute with a header.
South Korea opened the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Oman on Saturday, while Kuwait was defeated against Australia 4-1 in the opener.
Despite plenty of possession, pressure and chances, Kuwait couldn't find a way past South Korea goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu.
Kuwait is almost certainly out of tournament following back-to-back defeats.
South Korea will travel to Brisbane to face host Australia in the last group game on Saturday, when Kuwait meet Oman in Newcastle.
