Iran's President Stresses Constructive Interaction with Persian Gulf Littoral States


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that interaction and cooperation with Persian Gulf littoral states is top on his administration's agenda.

Rouhani told reporters in southern city of Bushehr on that his government’s policy is to have “constructive interaction” with the world, especially with neighboring countries south of the Persian Gulf.

“Islamic Republic of Iran has long had good relations with Persian Gulf's southern states,” Iran’s president said, adding that Tehran seeks to reinforce the ties.

Rouhani further referred to the common religious, historical and cultural roots between the regional countries, and described it as effective in the further strengthening of ties.

He also highlighted the active role Iran's southern Bushehr province can play to that end by establishing good relationship with countries in southern coasts of Persian Gulf.

Earlier on Tuedday, Rouhani had highlighted the country’s resolve to forge good relations with all neighboring states.

“We want good and friendly relations with all our neighbors,” the President said during a visit to the southern Iranian province of Bushehr which has a long coast on the Persian Gulf.
