Iran to Open World Handball Championships with Bosnia and Herzegovina
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Iranian national handball team will kick off the World Handball Championships with a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday.
The match will be held at the Lusail Sports Arena.
Twenty-four teams will contest for a cup made of pure gold during the event that takes place between January 15 and February 1 in Qatar.
France, Denmark and Spain are among the favorites.
Iran has recently played three friendly matches with the Italian handball team in Chieti, Italy, winning twice and one match ended in a draw.
Iran has been drawn in Group B of the world championship.
Iran has been pitted against Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Austria and Tunisia.
