Iranian Foreign Minister Arrives in Kabul

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is in Afghanistan to discuss the expansion of bilateral ties between Tehran and Kabul.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif is slated to meet with senior Afghan officials including President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah.

Issues of mutual interest, security challenges, anti-terror campaign as well as combatting drug trafficking are among the issues to be discussed in the talks.

This is the first time Zarif is visiting Afghanistan as Iran's foreign minister.

He is also said to be carrying President Hassan Rouhani’s invitation for Ashraf Ghani to visit Tehran.

Earlier in October, the two presidents emphasized boosting cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
