Iran Moves Up 10 Places in FIFA Rankings


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's national football team moved up 10 places in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.

Team Melli is now ranked 41st in the world and first in Asia after accumulating 700 points.

Meanwhile new Asian champion Australia (63rd, up 37), beaten finalist Korea Republic (54th, up 15), United Arab Emirates (66th, up 14), Iraq (94th, up 20) and China PR (82nd, up 14) have all also climbed at least ten places.

Germany leads an unchanged top seven, followed by Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil and Portugal.

France fell out of a tie with Portugal to No. 8, and Uruguay and Spain traded places as Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.
