Iran’s Persepolis Edges Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia in ACL

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis has taken its revenge over Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia in the AFC Champions League group stage.

On Wednesday, Persepolis beat Al-Nasr 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mehdi Taromi.

Persepolis had lost 3-0 in its away match in Saudi Arabia.

The Iranian team was dominant in the first half but failed to find the back of the net.

In the 60th minute, Persepolis was awarded a penalty after its striker Mehdi Taromi was fouled in the area.

Taromi, who was selected as the Player of the Match, chipped the ball over Al-Nasr goalkeeper in front of more than 90,000 shouting fans in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Al-Nasr created several opportunities after receiving the goal but failed to equalize the match.

Persepolis went four points clear of Al-Nasr at the top of the group with just two matches remaining in the group stages.
