Great Chance for Wrestlers in World Cup: Iran's Top Official


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle technical director Alireza Rezaei said 2015 Freestyle Wrestling World Cup is a good chance for their wrestlers to gain experience.

Competition begins Saturday at 3 p.m. in the US city of Los Angeles, with the championship matches starting Sunday at 4:15 p.m.

Iran will compete with Turkey, Belarus and Azerbaijan in Pool A. Pool B consists of USA, Russia, Cuba and Mongolia.

“Wrestling is an important part of our culture and it is our national sport,” Iran freestyle technical director Alireza Rezaei said.

“We love competing here and it’s a great chance for our wrestlers to gain more experience.”

“I have to thanks the Iranians living here (Los Angeles) due to their hospitality. Hopefully, we can make our people happy with good results here,” he added.

The winner from each pool will meet for the title.
