IRGC Navy Commander Highlights Washington's Continued Enmity towards Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander highlighted Washington's unrelenting hostility towards Iran since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, stressing that the US has faced defeat in every plot it has hatched against the Islamic Republic since.

US antagonism towards Iran has been in place over the past 36 years, Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said Saturday, adding that despite a whole host of defeats it has suffered, America cannot end such hostility.

He made the remarks in the eastern city of Tabas at a ceremony held to mark the 35th anniversary of a failed US military operation in Iran's Tabas Desert.

The senior commander said the US decided to try imposing sanctions on Iran after realizing that it is impossible to defeat the Islamic Republic militarily.

The US has launched cultural and economic onslaughts against Iran, the commander stated, underscoring that Washington will fail to harm Iran in those arenas as well.

On April 25, 1980, the US launched Operation Eagle Claw in an attempt to rescue Americans held in the Iranian capital of Tehran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

However, a sandstorm struck and brought down the US helicopters involved in the operation, killing eight American servicemen.

The US Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps were all involved in the failed operation.
