Iran to Construct Cement, Medicine Factories in Iraq


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian minister of cooperatives, labor, and social welfare, who is on an official visit to neighboring Iraq, announced that Iran plans to build two new factories in the Arab country in the near future.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at Baghdad airport on Monday evening, Ali Rabiei said one of the plants will produce medicine and the other cement.

He further said that Iran wants to send skilled workforce to Iraq as part of efforts to contribute to the development of the war-hit country.

Rabiei pointed to his planned meetings with Iraqi officials, saying that during his talks, the two sides will exchange views on a range of issues, including social security activities and investment opportunities.

During his three-day visit to Iraq, the Iranian official will meet with a number of Iraqi ministers.
