Enemies Seeking to Stretch Proxy Wars to Iran’s Borders: Supreme Leader

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday cautioned about the enemy plot to destabilize the Iranian borders, and underlined that Tehran’s response to such hostile moves would be crushing.

Addressing a gathering of Imam Hossein (PBUH) University cadets here in the capital city of Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei  disclosed that "enemies of Iran together with a number of stupid authorities from the Persian Gulf region are seeking to extend proxy war to the Iranian borders."

Guards of the Islamic Revolution and all guardians of the country’s national security are vigilant, Imam Khamenei said, and warned enemies that Iran’s response to any evil act would be “very strong”.

Elsewhere in his Wednesday remarks, the Leader pointed to the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and world powers over the country’s peaceful nuclear energy program, and said Iran will not allow the inspection of its military sites.

The Supreme Leader further ruled out any request for interviews with Tehran’s nuclear scientists, and described it as an instance of “interrogation”.

“I would not let foreigners come (here) and talk to the Iranian nation’s dear scientists..., who have expanded this wide knowledge to this stage,” Imam Khamenei stressed.

Earlier last month, Ayatollah Khamenei had categorically rejected foreign access to the country’s “security and defensive” sectors under the pretext of nuclear monitoring.

In their latest round of talks, on April 2, Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany) reached a framework nuclear agreement after more than a week of intensive negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final, comprehensive accord until the end of June.

The framework provides a series of solutions that will be the basis of a comprehensive joint plan of action.
