Iran's President Urges Unity on Nuclear Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani referred to the nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers as a national issue that requires national unity.

"We should move on this path with unity and solidarity," President Rouhani said of the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), in an address to a gathering of Interior Ministry officials on Saturday.

He also highlighted the Iranian nation's capability to safeguard its rights in the talks with the world powers and terminate the sanctions the West has imposed on the country.

The president further praised the country's team of negotiators for their endeavors and performance in the nuclear talks.

"The negotiating team moves within the framework of the Islamic Establishment's opinions and red lines and knows how to speak and is moving on the right path," he underlined.

As Iran and the world powers continue their talks to hammer out a lasting nuclear accord, Iran's foreign minister and lead negotiator, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has underlined that the negotiators firmly stick to the Islamic Republic's red lines in the negotiations.

"Definitely, the negotiating team is committed to safeguarding the Establishment's red lines in all subjects of the nuclear negotiations," Zarif said on May 22.

On April 2, Iran and the sextet reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.
