FIVB World League: Poland 3 – 2 Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian national volleyball team suffered a narrow defeat to world champion Poland in the 2015 FIVB World League Saturday night.

Team Melli was not able to maintain its high level of play in fifth set and lost to the home side 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 22-25, 15-6) in Czestochowa.

It was Iran’s fourth consecutive defeat in the FIVB World League.

Shahram Mamoudi led Iran with 20 points and Bartosz Kurek scored 21 points for Poland.

Iran has been scheduled to play Russia on June 13 and 14 in Kazan.

Elsewhere, USA defeated Russia 3-0 at the Walter Pyramid to stay top of Pool B with 12 points.

Poland sits second with 10 points, followed by Iran and Russia who have earned one point each.
