World’s Status Quo Necessitates Closer Iran-Russia Ties: Rouhani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin congratulated Russia's national day, urging enhanced cooperation with Moscow given the current situation in the region and the world.

“I believe that the current circumstances in the region and the world have further necessitated all-out cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation,” Rouhani said in a Friday message that also felicitated the Russian government and nation on Russia Day, which falls on June 12.

“Given the two countries’ common views on diverse spheres, I hope for more expansion of cooperation in different bilateral and multilateral arenas,” the message added.

Russia Day is the national holiday of the Russian Federation, celebrated on June 12. It has been celebrated every year since 1992.
