Iran’s Esteghlal Reaches Initial Agreement with Igor Stimac

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian giant Esteghlal football team has reached an initial agreement with Croatian coach Igor Stimac on Friday.

The 47-year-old, who was a member of Croatia football team won the bronze medal in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, negotiated with the officials of the Iranian football club in Tehran.

“I’ve heard Esteghlal has 20 million fans and it deserves to win the title.  We’ve talked about so many things but not about financial issue so far,” Stimac said.

“I have good knowledge of Iran’s football since my assistants have worked here for years,” former Croatia coach added.

Esteghlal finished in sixth place in the Iran Professional League (IPL) last season under Amir Ghalenoei's leadership.
