Iran's Larijani Calls for Decisive Measures against Takfiri Terrorism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani condemned a recent attack carried out by Takfiri (extremist) terrorists in Tunisia, stressing the need for combating the threat posed to the world by Takfiri groups.

In a message to his Tunisian counterpart Mohammad Nasser, Larijani denounced the deadly attack on a seaside resort hotel in Tunisia and expressed condolences to the North African country’s nation and government and the families of the victims.

At least one gunman disguised as a vacationer attacked the Mediterranean resort on Friday, killing at least 38 people at a beachfront hotel before he was shot to death by the security forces.

The slaughter at the Imperial Marhaba Hotel in Sousse, a palm-flecked town on the northeast Tunisian coast, was among the worst terrorist attacks in the country’s history and the second in a little more than three months.

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, according to statements released Friday night on Twitter.

Elsewhere in his message, Larijani warned about the dangers posed by Takfiri terrorism and stressed the need for the adoption of decisive measures and collective regional and international efforts to confront "this ominous phenomenon that threatens the peace and progress of all nations in the world."
