FIVB World League: Poland Upsets Iran in Home Match


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Poland's national volleyball team defeated Iran 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-19) in the second of its two FIVB Volleyball World League Pool B encounters held at Tehran’s Azadi Hall.

After losing against Iran in five sets on Friday, Stephane Antiga's men reacted well to narrow the gap with Pool B leader and reigning World League champion USA.

Iran beat world champion in the first set with the help of its cheering fans. Poland handled the pressure well in the following sets.

Jakub Jarosz was the top scorer for Poland with 22 points, while Shahram Mahmoudi scored 12 for Iran.

USA remains top of Pool B with 23 points, followed by Poland and Iran with 20 and 15 points.

Russia is fourth with only two points.
