Loss against Russia Was Unbelievable: Iran Captain Marouf

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national volleyball team's captain Saeid Marouf said that the loss against Russia in the 2015 FIVB World League was unbelievable.

Iran was defeated against Russia 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21) in Tehran’s Azadi Hall in its last match in Pool B.

“The conditions made it natural to expect a tough match. But we started the game with a good mentality. This loss was unbelievable, and I do not know what happened,” Marouf said in the press conference.

“Probably if we had won the first set, the condition would be rather different."

"Unfortunately, we lost. Russia needed the point more than us. They played with fewer mistakes than their first match. Congratulations to Russia. We prefer to have Russia in level 1 to learn from them,” he added.
