Iranian Players Had No Motivation, Russia Coach Klimkin Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Russian national volleyball team's coach Aleksandr Klimkin stated he knew that the Iranian players did not have the same motivation they had in their first match.

Russia beat Iran 3-1 1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21) in Tehran’s Azadi Hall in its last match in Pool B.

"We knew that Iran had no chance to go up after the win of Poland against USA. I knew that the Iranian players did not have the same motivation as their first match,” Klimkin said in the post-match news conference.

"They had no chance to find a way to the final. That is what I explained to my players and they played easier than the first match."

"We achieved what we had in mind as our objective,” he added.
