World Leaders Congratulate Iran on Nuclear Deal


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leaders and heads of states from around the world expressed their congratulations to Iran over the country’s long-awaited agreement with six world powers after years of talks over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

In separate messages to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Iraqi President Fouad Massoum and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi emphasized that Baghdad welcomes the “historic agreement”.

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri and other lawmakers also praised the agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In separate messages to Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah offered his congratulations to the Iranian nation over the JCPOA.

The ruler of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan also sent a note of congratulations to president Rouhani on Tuesday for the agreement.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri also congratulated Iran on the great achievement.

Iran and the Group 5+1 concluded more than two weeks of talks over Tehran’s nuclear program in Vienna on July 14. The negotiating parties reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive deal on Tehran’s nuclear program after 22 months of diplomatic negotiations, ending more than a decade of standoff over Tehran's civilian nuclear program once and for all.
