Iran Should Get Ready for Post-Sanctions Era: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Saturday the country needs to prepare for the situation when the sanctions will be terminated under a final nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

“God willing, we should prepare ourselves for the post-sanctions conditions and the world after the (nuclear) agreement,” Rouhani told reporters in Tehran on the sidelines of a prayers ceremony marking the Eid al-Fitr.

His comments came after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

After months of diplomatic talks, the negotiating parties could finalize the text of a deal that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Iran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.

Elsewhere in his comments, President Rouhani expressed the hope that Iranians would experience the country’s development and progress in all fields, particularly in economic and social affairs, after the sanctions are lifted.

He underlined that Iran managed to reach a conclusion on the text of an “acceptable, good and important” deal, which he said will have to undergo processes before taking effect.

While many refer to the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and world powers as a historic international development, the United Nations Security Council is going to vote on Monday morning on a resolution endorsing the conclusion.

The resolution was circulated to council members on Wednesday by the US.
