Iran’s Armed Forces Suitably Prepared: Army Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi underscored the high level of Iranian Armed Forces' preparedness, and said the US is living in a dream world if it thinks it would be able to deal with Iran militarily.

The White House said on Friday that military options remain available regarding Iran, but the administration is pursuing diplomacy first.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the nuclear agreement with Iran would actually enhance Washington's potential military options if Iran violates the compact.

In reply, Salehi told reporters on the sidelines of Eid al-Fitr prayers in Tehran on Saturday that the Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and the whole military and armed forces are in an appropriate shape.

Asked about the US war rhetoric, the top general derided the notion of defeating Iran’s Army as Washington’s “new wish” in a dream.

While Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) finalized the text of a lasting deal on Tehran’s nuclear program on July 14, US officials have not stopped raising provocative comments about military action against Iran.
