Iran Welcomes Closer Economic Ties with Switzerland: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President's Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian underlined that the Islamic Republic is ready to promote bilateral relations with Switzerland in diverse financial and banking areas.

Speaking in a Wednesday meeting in Tehran with Yves Rossier, the secretary of state at the Swiss foreign ministry, Nahavandian touched upon the successful conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers, saying that many Western countries have now recognized that "the fabricated and unnecessary crisis" on Iran's nuclear program has prevented them from benefiting from Iran's high economic capacities.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran's government is ready to have business with all countries around the world in all trade, banking, tourism, and transportation areas based on a win-win relationship," he added.

Nahavandian also stressed that "Iran welcomes the expansion of economic and banking relations with Switzerland."

Rossier, for his part, voiced his country's willingness to promote bilateral relations with Iran in various economic fields.

In an earlier meeting on Wednesday with Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati, the Swiss official said Iran can contribute to better international interactions, even though some countries may feel uneasy about a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Iran and the six nations on July 14 finalized the text of a comprehensive 159-page nuclear deal, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
