Iran’s Zarif to Start Regional Tour Tomorrow

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in his first regional tour after the conclusion of talks with six world powers over Tehran’s nuclear energy program, plans to make official visits to Kuwait, Qatar and Iraq.

During his tour of regional Arab countries due to be started on Sunday, Zarif is slated to meet high-ranking officials and exchange views on a whole host of issues, ranging from the outcome of nuclear negotiations to the latest developments in the region.

The visits are also aimed at exploring avenues for further promotion of bilateral relations between Iran and the regional states in diverse areas.

Earlier last week, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham had announced that Zarif’s regional tour would take place after Eid al-Fitr, the festive occasion marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, due to tight programs.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 finalized the text of a lasting nuclear deal that would terminate all anti-Iran sanctions after taking effect. The United Nations Security Council also unanimously passed a resolution afterwards, endorsing the comprehensive accord.
