Iran Sweeps Kazakhstan at Asian Senior Volleyball Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran earned its second victory in the Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship, defeating Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 27-25) on Saturday.
Iran, who beat Kuwait in the opening match, will play its last preliminary round match in Pool A with Chinese Taipei at the Azadi Sport Complex on Sunday.
World No.10 Iran, which looks forward to capturing the Asian title for three times in a row at home this time, became the only team yet losing a set in the competition.
“The scoreboard showed how close we played, except in the second set. It was a very critical situation for Kazakhstan because if they lose the game they will dash their hopes of advancing to the top eight teams,” Iran coach Peyman Akbari said in the post-match news conference.
