35 Countries to Attend Islamic Radios, Televisions Union Meeting in Tehran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The 8th General Assembly of Islamic Radios and Televisions Union is scheduled to open here in Tehran this weekend with representatives from 35 countries in attendance, a senior organizer of the international event announced.

This year, more than 220 TV and radio stations and networks from 35 countries will participate in in the general assembly, secretary of media and advertising committee of the general assembly, Mahmoud Ashtari said on Wednesday.

The three-day event is planned to be held in the Iranian capital on Saturday, August 15.

Meantime, the 6th Ettehad Festival will be held on the sidelines of the general assembly, Ashtari stated, adding that in the festival, the TV and radio networks display their products and the best works will be awarded.

The 7th general assembly of the union was held in Tehran in May 2014 under the motto of ‘Awakening Media Outlets, Voice of Resistance and Confrontation with Religious Sedition.’

The gathering had been opened with a speech by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh also addressed the assembly live from Gaza City via video conference.
