Iran Volleyball Team Beaten by France at Hubert Wagner Memorial

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran lost to FIVB Volleyball World League champion France in straight sets (25-22, 25-23, 25-23) on Saturday.

The Iranian team will meet host Poland on Sunday while France face Japan.

“I became worried because we played without energy against France. May be it’s because we played once again after six weeks,” Iran coach Slobodan Kovac said.

The competition takes place in the immediate run-up to the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup in Japan.

The thirteenth edition of the Memorial sees Iran, France and Japan challenge world champion Poland in Torun from August 22-24.

The Hubert Wagner Memorial is a tournament dedicated to the memory of the coach who led Poland to world and Olympic glory in 1974 and 1976 respectively, fivb.org reported.

Last year's edition of the event saw Russia claim gold. Host Poland won silver, Bulgaria finished third and China fourth.
