Iran Volleyball Team Loses to Poland at Hubert Wagner Memorial

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national volleyball team was defeated against Poland 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 25-20) at the Hubert Wagner Memorial on Sunday.

Iran had lost to France in straight sets on the first day of the event underway in Poland.

“We had nothing to say against Poland. We played very bad as we played against France. I don’t know what’s our problem,” Iranian captain Saeid Marouf said.

The competition takes place in the immediate run-up to the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup in Japan.

The thirteenth edition of the Memorial sees Iran, France and Japan challenge world champion Poland in Torun from August 22-24.

The Hubert Wagner Memorial is a tournament dedicated to the memory of the coach who led Poland to world and Olympic glory in 1974 and 1976 respectively, fivb.org reported.

Last year's edition of the event saw Russia claim gold. Host Poland won silver, Bulgaria finished third and China fourth.
