Britain to Send Big Trade Delegation to Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A British government’s economic official said his country is weighing plans to dispatch a big trade delegation to Iran until year end.

A team of British authorities, led by Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, arrived in Tehran on Sunday to reopen Britain’s embassy after a 4-year closure.

Britain’s Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury Damian Hinds was also among the visiting dignitaries.

He held a meeting with head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Mohsen Jalalpour in the hope of getting the most out of abundant economic opportunities in the Islamic Republic following termination of the anti-Iran sanctions.

Hinds made it clear in the Sunday meeting that London is not only after “benefitting” from Iran, but looks for plans to help Iran and pave the way for the deployment of a big trade delegation to Iran until end of 2015.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.

The promising prospect of trade with Iran has prompted many countries to explore the market potential in the populous Middle East nation.
