Chinese President Likely to Pay Visit to Tehran: Velayati


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to pay a visit to Iran, Head of the Center for Strategic Studies of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati announced on Tuesday.

He made the remarks at a meeting with visiting Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Deng Li here in Tehran.

“The necessary consultations have been conducted in this regard and in case the appropriate time arrives, the Chinese president will travel to Iran and hold talks about issues pertaining to the two countries’ relations,” Velayati, also an adviser to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, announced.

He also said Iran and China enjoy strategic relations on wide range of issues, Press TV reported.

Velayati noted that the reciprocal visits to Tehran and Beijing by Chinese and Iranian officials indicate the significance of Tehran-Beijing ties.

The two sides enjoy the capacity to increase their trade transactions to some $200 billion annually, he underlined.
