Iranophobia Project Defused by Nuclear Deal: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President's Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian on Friday said the recent agreement reached between Tehran and world powers over the country’s nuclear energy program revealed peace-seeking nature of Iran to the world.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program, which would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
Addressing a large congregation of worshippers in Tehran, Nahavandian described the cultural achievement of the nuclear deal as greater than its technical or even economic achievements.
“This (cultural) achievement was the failure of decades of Iranophobia and anti-Iran propaganda, which they (westerners) had spread through their media and propaganda tools,” he explained.
“It was made clear in this agreement that Iran is a peace-seeking state, whose nuclear program has been peaceful,” he added.
Nahavandian also noted that Tehran has always been a pioneer in peace and fight against violence and extremism, saying that the nuclear deal once again showed to the world Tehran’s justice-seeking and peace-seeking stances.
In similar remarks earlier this month, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif downplayed repetitive anti-Iran remarks by Western officials, saying that they had better make a change in their policies.
“The shaky foundation of the dangerous and invalid project of Iranophobia has collapsed,” Zarif said in a statement released in reaction to an address by US President Barack Obama, where he had once again repeated his anti-Iran remarks.
“Efforts to breathe new life into it (the Iranophobia project) would find no buyer in the world and the region, and would just help the sellers of lethal weapons gain huge profits,” the Iranian minister added.
