Car Bomb Explodes Near US Embassy in Yemen


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A car bomb has detonated near the evacuated US embassy in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a.

A car bomb has detonated in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a, near the evacuated US embassy, Sputnik reported on Sunday citing local media.

A powerful explosion occurred Saturday near a mosque in northeastern Sana'a close to an US checkpoint, the Bahraini Al-Wasat newspaper reported, citing local sources.

No casualties have yet been reported.

According to the newspaper, no terrorist groups have claimed responsibility for the blast.

Yemen is engulfed in an armed conflict between Houthis, the country’s main opposition faction, and forces loyal to resigned president.

Al-Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula and the ISIL terrorist group have taken advantage of the situation to strengthen their hold in Yemen.
