Austria Urges Cooperation with Iran’s Post Company

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The visiting chief financial officer of Oesterreichische Post, also known as Austrian Post, called for closer cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran Post Company in line with the promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a meeting with Managing Director of IRI Post Company Hossein Mehri in Tehran, Walter Oblin explained the international activities of the Austrian Post, and said over the past 15 years, the company has provided postal services for many European countries, including Turkey.

He further invited the Iranian postal official to pay an official visit to Austria, and called for closer cooperation between the two countries’ post companies in various areas.

Mehri, for his part, pointed to modern postal services in Iran and said with the advent of information technology in the postal sector and its spread to Iran, a remarkable part of the country’s postal services are provided in electronic forms.

“We welcome Austria's successful experiences in various fields of postal (services),” he noted.

The Austrian official is a member of a high-ranking delegation accompanying President Heinz Fischer on his three-day visit to Iran.

The Austrian president, whose country played host to several rounds of marathon nuclear negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), had earlier expressed the confidence that his visit would bring the Iranian and Austrian nations closer together.
