Iran to Keep Siding with Iraq against Extremism: FM


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to backing Baghdad in the fight against violence and extremism.

In a meeting with Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri in Tehran, Zarif underlined that Iran will stand by the Iraqi government and nation in dealing with domestic, regional and international issues, particularly in the battle against violence and extremism.

He also hoped that the process of reforms in Iraq would yield good results through consultation and cooperation among all legitimate Iraqi groups and organizations.

The visiting Iraqi official, for his part, expressed gratitude to Iran for its unwavering support for the Iraqi nation during crises in the Arab country.

Jabouri also praised Iran’s contribution to stability in the region.

The Iraqi speaker is visiting Iran to hold talks on a range of issues, such as the national reconciliation plan in Iraq and the fight against Takfiri terrorists in the Arab country.
