IRGC Commander Urges Vigilance to Identify Enemy Plots

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari stressed the need for vigilance to discern the enemy’s hostile tactics by monitoring its apparent behavior towards Iran.

Addressing an annual gathering of the IRGC commanders on Wednesday, Major General Jafari echoed Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s call for blocking the enemy’s inroads into the country following a nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

The commander underlined that Iranians should focus their “attention, vigilance, insight and revolutionary actions” on ways to “figure out the enemy’s real strategy under the guise of its apparent moves.”

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as the P5+1 or E3+3) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.

While many consider the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) a major breakthrough in the improvement of ties between Iran and the West, the Leader has already made it clear that Tehran’s policy toward the US will remain unchanged regardless of the ultimate fate of the JCPOA.

On Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei urged vigilance in the face of enemy ploys to gain a political and cultural foothold in Iran, warning that the consequences of such infiltration would be much worse than that of enemy’s economic influence.
