Hajj Crush Investigation: Nigeria Wants Saudi to Involve Affected Nations

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has demanded the inclusion of Nigeria and other countries in Saudi Arabia’s investigation into Thursday’s crush during one of the last rituals of the Hajj that killed more than 1300 people.

Saudi Arabia's crown prince ordered an investigation during a meeting on Thursday with senior officials responsible for the pilgrimage in Mina, where the crush took place.

The Chairman of NAHCON Abdullah Mohammed on Friday told reporters in Mina that it was proper to include Nigeria and other countries in the investigation process to unravel the cause of the incident and prevent the recurrence.

“We commiserate with fellow Nigerians and others who died in the unfortunate incident," Mohammed said as reported by Nigerian newspaper The Punch.

“The King has expressed his condolence to the Muslim world and ordered investigation. This probe should be extended to include Nigeria and authorities of countries whose citizens are performing the pilgrimage.”
