Iran’s Army Fully Prepared to Repel Threats: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A top Iranian military commander emphasized the high level of preparedness in the country's Army, saying anyone who dares make a threat against Iran will regret it.

“The Army has the capability and power to nip any ground, naval or aerial threat in the bud,” Commander of Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Sunday.

The commander underscored the high level of military preparedness against the threat of proxy wars posed by the terrorist groups in the region, such as the ISIL or Boko Haram.

Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan had earlier stressed that Tehran does not consider the ISIL terrorists to be even a threat, stressing that any hostile move by the notorious group against Iran will be nipped in the bud.

ISIL is a militant group that made advances in northern and western Iraq over summer 2014, after capturing swaths of northern Syria.

Tehran has underlined time and again that Iranian armed forces will destroy ISIL if the terrorist group makes it to within 40 kilometers of any of the country’s borders.
