Israel, Foreign Interference, Terrorism, Middle East’s 3 Major Troubles: Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Middle East is plagued with three main problems, namely the Zionist regime of Israel, foreign interference in the region’s domestic affairs, as well as terrorism and violence.
The illegitimate regime of Tel Aviv is the root cause of many disasters in the Middle East region, President Rouhani said in a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil in Tehran on Sunday evening.
“Foreign countries’ interference in the internal affairs of the delicate Middle East region, as well as violence and terrorism” are the other problems that have beset all regional countries, the president added.
When it comes to support for the other countries, Iran gives priority to those at the forefront of the fight against Israel and terrorism, President Rouhani stressed.
He also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s backing for the Lebanese nation, government, army and the resistance movement.
Hailing Lebanon as an epitome of peaceful coexistence of diverse ethnicities and religions, President Rouhani underlined that Tehran favors the Arab country’s unity, solidarity and territorial integrity.
The visiting Lebanese diplomat, for his part, hailed Iran’s great capacities in the battle against terrorism.
Bassil said Lebanon needs to stand beside Iran in counterterrorism efforts, explaining that the terrorist groups and the Israeli regime share a lot of interests.
The Lebanese foreign minister noted that Iran can be the flag-bearer of democracy in the region with its stances.
Bassil has visited Iran to attend a core group meeting of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), held in Tehran.
