2 Months of Hard Work Ahead, Iranian Diplomat Says on JCPOA Implementation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A top Iranian diplomat said the country is facing “hard work” during the next two months to pave the way for the implementation of a final nuclear agreement with the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

“The next two months will be the time of hard work and efforts to prepare the country for the implementation of the JCPOA,” Hamid Baeedinejad, the director general for political and international affairs at Iran's Foreign Ministry, said in his Instagram page on Sunday.

He was referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the lasting agreement on Iran’s nuclear program that was finalized in Vienna on July 14.

Baeedinejad said the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) will take the brunt of responsibility to prepare the ground for carrying out the accord.

On Sunday night, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini issued a joint statement to announce the official adoption of the JCPOA.

On the Adoption Day, which came 90 days after Iran and the six powers finalized the text of the deal, the EU adopted the legislative framework for lifting all of its nuclear-related economic and financial sanctions against Iran.

The US also took action to cease application of nuclear-related statutory sanctions on Iran effective on Implementation Day when the IAEA has verified implementation of agreed nuclear measures by Iran, as specified in the JCPOA.
