IRGC Calls for Vigilance against US Attempts to Infiltrate into Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday highlighted the US government’s long record of hostility towards the Iranian nation and cautioned against Washington’s attempts to make inroads into the Islamic Republic.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the US Embassy takeover in Tehran, the IRGC emphasized that the US administration’s hostile policy towards the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation is part of its never-ending attempt to infiltrate into the country.
It further stressed the necessity to keep vigilant against the US infiltration scheme especially after the recent nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The statement went on to say that the West, especially the US, Seeks to exploit the opportunity of post-JCPOA era for talks beyond the nuclear issue and find ways to infiltrate into the country, but Iranians will not allow that to happen.
On November 4, 1979, and in less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students that called themselves "students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)" seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.
The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic republic.
Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (November 4), the Iranian nation, particularly university and school students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.
In the capital city of Tehran, the rallies to mark the anniversary of the landmark move are held at the venue of the former US embassy, which is known by Iranians as the “Den of Espionage”.
