Global Arrogance Spending Billions of Dollars to Undermine Islamic Values: Judiciary Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani warned against the enemies’ plots to undermine Iran’s Islamic Revolution and the Islamic values, saying that the global arrogance is spending “billions of dollars” on the schemes.

Speaking at a conference on Quran in the northern city of Sari on Tuesday, Amoli Larijani pointed to the spread of the Quranic culture and values in Iran after the Islamic Revolution in 1979, saying that the enemies are plotting to undermine these values.

Today, many countries are plotting against the Islamic Republic, he said, adding that the global arrogance has spent billions of dollars to take the Islamic Republic and Quran from the Muslim community.

He made the comments in reference to the US government’s hostilities toward the Iranian nation since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Wednesday is the 36th anniversary of the US Embassy takeover in Tehran.

On November 4, 1979, and in less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students that called themselves "students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)" seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (November 4), the Iranian nation, particularly university and school students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.

In the capital city of Tehran, the rallies to mark the anniversary of the landmark move are held at the venue of the former US embassy, which is known by Iranians as the “Den of Espionage”.
