Russia’s SCAC Says to Deliver 100 Sukhoi Aircraft to Iran after Sanctions Relief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The president of Russia’s Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) said on Sunday it expects to deliver about 100 Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) planes to Iran after the upcoming termination of anti-Tehran sanctions.

"There is a huge interest, we expect to deliver some 100 aircraft… We have discussed the deliveries with the potential airline companies from Iran and expect some 100 planes (to be delivered)," Sputnik quoted Ilya Tarasenko as saying on Sunday.

He added that Iran could be also involved in the process of SSJ100 production on its territory after examination of Iranian industrial capacities and necessary certification.

Back on September 27, Head of Iran's National Space Center Manouchehr Manteqi said Tehran had inked contracts worth $21 billion with Moscow for the purchase of satellite-related equipment, as well as Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane, at the MAKS-2015 international air show.

"There is a large share of contracts for the purchase of this type of aircraft," he said, not specifying, however, the exact number of jets.

An Iranian delegation visited the MAKS-2015 air show held in the Russian city of Zhukovsky in the Moscow region between August 25 and August 30.

Following the recent nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, foreign business executives and financial bodies are shuttling to Iran to lay the groundwork for investment and trade.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
