Iran’s FM Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Paris

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned terror attacks in Paris that killed at least 127 people on Friday night.

Offering condolences to the French government and nation on a string of shocking terrorist attacks, Zarif reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to fighting terrorism.

“The Paris incidents once again demonstrated that terrorism and extremism are international threats and battling them requires concerted global cooperation,” he noted.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will be seriously active in this field (counterterrorism),” Zarif added.

The minister reiterated that the fight on terrorism should not be confined to a specific region, calling for an international sympathy for the victims of the Paris attacks.

At least 127 people were killed in Paris on Friday night after gunmen and bombers attacked restaurants, a concert hall and a sports stadium at six different locations across the city.

French President Hollande has declared a state of emergency across France and national borders have been shut following the attacks.

The Paris prosecutor's office says that eight attackers are dead after the attacks, seven of them in suicide bombings.
