Iran Handball Beats Oman at Asian Qualification Tournament
TEHRAN( Tasnim) – Iranian national handball team defeated Oman 39-31 at the 2015 Asian Qualification Tournament on Saturday.
The event started in Doha, Qatar, on November 14 and will finish on November 23.
Japan also defeated Saudi Arabia 27-19 in the group.
The Iranian team will face Uzbekistan on Monday.
Iran has been placed in group B of the tournament and will face host Qatar, Uzbekistan, Japan, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
Group A is made up of Australia, Bahrain, South Korea, Iraq, Kuwait and China.
The gold medal winner in the competition will qualify for the Olympics.
The handball tournament at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will consist of twelve men and women teams each.
