Envoy: Tehran-Baku Ties to Further Develop after Sanctions Relief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakayeen said Iran-Azerbaijan mutual cooperation is expected to be strengthen in the wake of the recent nuclear deal and the upcoming termination of anti-Tehran sanctions

“Currently, we are further exploring the potential for developing cooperation between our countries in the oil and gas, petrochemical and construction spheres,” Pakayeen said on Tuesday, addressing the Azerbaijan-Iran Business Forum in Baku, Trend news agency reported.

Stressing that Tehran-Baku relations have entered a new stage, he expressed Iran’s readiness to support Iranian and Azerbaijani businessmen to that end.

The business forum, organized by AZPROMO and Iran’s Pars Pegah Tejarat, was attended by over 200 businessmen from both countries working in the oil and gas sector, chemical industry, agriculture, food industry, construction, engineering and various other areas.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany- also known as P5+1 or E3+3) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

The deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
