Syrian Troops Gain Ground in Latakia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian army forces continued to make more gains in their military campaign against ISIL terrorists across the Arab country and managed to retake control of a number of key areas in the western province of Latakia.

According to a Thursday report by Syria's official news agency SANA, the army forces succeeded in restoring security to the northeastern countryside of Latakia after striking major blows to the Takfiri terrorists.

Syrian army jets also targeted terrorists’ hideouts in Latakia’s northern countryside, inflicting heavy losses on the foreign-backed terrorists.

In similar developments, the Syrian forces claimed the lives of large groups of the terrorists in the provinces of Aleppo, Hama, Homs, Daraa and Sweida.

They also destroyed six vehicles belonging to Takfiri terrorists and killed nearly 50 of them in an operation in the northwestern province of Idlib.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from various groups, including the ISIL, currently controlling parts of it.
