Russia’s Airstrikes in Syria ‘Effective’: Iranian Commander
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian military official described Russia’s air campaign against terrorist groups in Syria as “effective” and “successful”.
“There is evidence that the Russian military operation against terrorists in Syria, against the ISIL (Daesh) militants in particular, is efficient, effective and successful,” Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri told Sputnik on Friday.
He added that Russia’s decision to pound the terrorists’ positions in the Arab country was a right and timely move.
“By not starting the fight against terrorism today, Russia would have risked a terrorist threat tomorrow,” Jazayeri said.
Elsewhere in his comments, the Iranian general strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and urged French officials to be more serious in fighting terrorism.
On November 13, a string of terrorist attacks in and around the French capital of Paris left at least 132 people dead. Hours after the attacks, the ISIL Takfiri group claimed responsibility for the deadly violence.
