Iran Deplores UN’s Inaction to End Siege on Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official once again underlined Tehran’ s support for finding a negotiated solution to crisis in Yemen, and criticized the UN for its inability to take effective steps to end ongoing blockade of Yemen.

“Since the ineffective military intervention (against Yemen) is underway, the UN was unable to take effective move in decreasing sufferings of people and breaking siege on the oppressed nation of Yemen,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian told reporters in Beirut on Monday.

Amir Abdollahian is accompanying Ali Akbar Velayati, an international adviser to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in his visit to Beirut.

He said the continued aggression against Yemen has resulted in further deaths of women, children and civilians.

Amir Abdollahian also renewed Iran support for UN-mediated talks between Yemeni groups.

Since March 26, Saudis and their Arab allies have been launching military attacks against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
