West Using Terrorist Groups to Spread Islamophobia: Iran’s Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Ali Larijani stressed that extremists and terrorists have nothing to do with Islam, adding that Western countries use these groups to spread Islamophiba.

“Unfortunately, creation of such thoughts as (those of) Daesh in the region has led to misperceptions about Islam in the world,” Larijani noted, underlining that terrorist groups definitely play a destructive role in the Muslim world.

“In the current situation, certain Western countries are seeking to spoil the image of Islam and create Islamophobia through the instrumental use of terrorists,” Larijani warned, addressing a gathering of clerics and students in a seminary in the Iranian holy city of Qom, ICANA reported..

He reiterated that terrorists’ thoughts have nothing to do with Islam or Islamic schools of thought.

Even different Sunni Muslims, except for Wahhabis, reject the positions and thoughts held by Daesh and other terrorist groups, the Iranian speaker said, adding that such thoughts should not be attributed to Islam.

Last month, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had also underlined that the barbaric crimes committed by terrorist groups have nothing do with Islam, which is the religion of affection and fraternity.

“Islam is the religion of fraternity, kindness, and benevolence toward others, and these (terrorist) crimes have nothing to do with Islam,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Tehran in late November.
