Judiciary Considering Case of Saudi Embassy Attackers: Iranian Police Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said the relevant judicial bodies are considering the case of those captured by the police for storming Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in Tehran.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Saturday, the commander said the police has done its job, and the judicial bodies are in the process of dealing with the case.

In the early hours of January 3, angry demonstrators attacked Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in Tehran in protest at Riyadh’s execution of prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Police arrested the perpetrators and President Hassan Rouhani condemned the move afterwards.

However, Saudi officials decided to sever ties with Iran.
